Registration of ‘Krib’ new lentil variety in Tunisia

Abstract In Tunisia, lentil ( Lens culinaris subsp. Medik.) is cultivated in arid and semi-arid areas. Terminal drought heat stresses during the end of cycle causes significant yield losses. Selection short varieties could be best option to escape effect pre cited abiotic factors. ‘krib’ was developed using both modified pedigree bulk methods by INRAT collaboration with ICARDA. It’s a selection from an advanced F9 line, FLIP2012 196L, which derived cross ILL590 (early-maturing genotype) ILL8113 (drought tolerant). During three consecutive cropping seasons (2014–2017), increase above that local checks about 13 15% for ‘kef’ ‘Boulifa’, respectively. ‘Krib’ early-flowering (on average ~ 93 d) early-maturing 138 variety. It's therefore, earliest variety among previously released varieties. Its dehulled seed has protein content 26.8% ‘Kef’ (23.9%). ‘Krib' showed good agronomic performance under conditions large adaptation Tunisian environments. Tested as ILL11171, approved release registered Official Catalogue Plant Varieties 2019, based on superior performance, DG/PCQPA, Tunisia. The availability farmers production offers producer aprofitable benefit their systems.
